Ystrad area

The Josef Herman Foundation in Ystradgynlais is inviting photographers, and anyone else who can assist, to submit images of the people, the town, and surrounding area of Ystradgynlais.

Inspired by the work of local photographers TJ Davies and Llew Morgan, the Foundation wishes to develop an exhibition of photographs for display later in the year.

The Josef Herman Foundation was set up to encourage and support art intitiatives within the area and to provide educational support for the literary and visual arts. The Foundation launched the project on the 1st of May with an exhibition of drawings donated by Mrs Nini Herman, the wife of the late great artist Josef Herman. The funds raised from the sale of some of those drawings will be used to further develop exhibitions and educational projects for the benefit of the people of the area in recognition of the support the town provided to Josef during his escape from the Nazi occupation of his native Poland during World War II.

If you have any interesting images of the people, or the town, from any period in history, we would be delighted to consider them for exhibition later in the year (dates and venue to be confirmed). In the first instance please contact Nigel Williams (at Artcymru.co.uk) with your details and information regarding the photo(s). Due to the forthcoming holiday period further details regarding the exhibition will not be avialable until after the 11th of August.
Thank you.
