Stuart Rowe is about to graduate from the Swansea Institute of Higher Education, having studied for a BA(Hons) in Painting & Drawing. His work, combining the landscape and the human form, has developed into an impressive collection which will be on view to Welsh audiences on 1st of June 2001, at the specially converted gallery at "The Factory," Pontardawe, West Glamorgan.
|
Stuart is already experiencing success in his native land of Cornwall, having been commissioned by the television chef
Rick Stein
and the writer
E.V. Thompson.
"My work takes into account the landscape and human form predominantly. Added to this is the experience of a particular landscape. By working directly from life I feel I obtain a personal connection with the landscape, which I then explore in a more experimental manner in the studio. I like to work in very close detail, and in more expressive styles, using all types of mediums; oils, acrylics, pencil and pastels.
Landscape has always been a huge inspiration to me. Coming from a rural area of Cornwall to a city like Swansea I have an increased interest in our place in the environment. This awareness has produced an area of research that is continuing, and will develop upon completion of my degree course at Swansea."
