The Royal Cambrian Academy Gallery in Conwy, North Wales surprised Sir Kyffin Williams RA at the weekend by presenting him with a bronze sculptured bust of himself.

The bust, which was commissioned to form part of the Gallery's permanent collection, was made by David William Ellis, but Sir Kyffin had not been told of its intended presentation.

An academy spokesman said, "The unveiling was a tightly kept secret, and we wanted it to be a surprise for Sir Kyffin, who is so supportive of the Royal cambrian Academy."

The presentation took place during the Will Roberts Memorial Exhibition of 95 works. The show will run until May the 26th.
