As you may be aware, Artcymru won the inaugural Gemini Digital Colour Award for Enterprise (2001) and decided to take a look at the service Gemini Digital Colour could offer artists. To our delight we found an extremely helpful and friendly staff prepared to tailor a print package to suit the individual.

For the Artist looking to produce limited edition prints, postcards, posters or exhibition invitations and posters, but who wants smaller quantities - there's an easy and very cost effective answer.

Using the very latest Digital Colour printing technology, Gemini Digital Colour Ltd can produce short print runs of your work for a very modest outlay. If you're testing your talents in the marketplace, why get lumbered with a load of unsold prints? If you only want 20 copies, not 200 or 1,000 as some printers will insist upon as a minimum run, Gemini are the ones to ask. Proofs are FREE and often available within 24 hours. Delivery takes no more than two days from your approval of the proofs.

Gemini have NO MINIMUM QUANTITIES , you only order what you need - or can afford . If the print sells - order some more. If it doesn't - you're not left with a load of unsaleable material and way out of pocket.

Dear Artist,
Many thanks for your recent enquiry about our services to the Fine Art market.
We already work with many artists (including members of the Royal Watercolour Society) and Fine Art Publishers, to produce:

· Limited edition prints
· Posters
· Greetings cards
· Postcards
· Invitations to exhibitions
· Catalogues and portfolio's

And a huge variety of associated printed matter…

The high quality and relatively low cost is always very well received and we are keen to assist more artists to get their work into print.

· We specialise in shorter print runs, so we don't impose any minimum quantity.

That makes our services very attractive to artists who don't want to produce many hundreds or even thousands of copies of their work. It's an ideal way to find out if a particular work has wider commercial appeal, for test marketing, or producing limited edition prints. In contrast to most other Digital systems, to reproduce the finer details of fine art printing, we use ink rather than toner (most colour photocopiers use toner).

· We offer a free proofing service and we can print on a wide variety of environmentally friendly paper stocks.

We can work from any of the following:-

· Good Quality Photograph

· What makes our service particularly attractive is the cost. See right hand column for details:

We have a set-up charge, which covers administration, studio time and machine set-up. The charge applies to EACH side of an SRA3 sheet we print and is charged each time we print. Please note that it is NOT a one off cost. This assumes your work is supplied to us on disc and correctly formatted to our specifications.

· The set-up charge is £65.00 (per side of SRA3)

We then simply charge 35p per side to print the sheet - regardless of the quantity required, from 1 to 1000 or more.

You can, of course get TWO A4 prints on an A3 sheet, FOUR A5 postcards, or EIGHT smaller A6 cards - the set-up and sheet costs remain the same, regardless of the number of images on the sheet

Please do not feel you have to work out the prices yourself though; we will be happy to supply you with an almost instant price based on your own unique requirements.

If you have more than one image you wish to reproduce, please contact us - as reduced rates apply to multiple images where we can spread the set-up costs.

· If you would like us to burn a CD with your images in digital format, we will make a nominal charge of no more than £10.00 to cover our costs. This can be returned with your printed job

If at all possible, we would like to have the original artwork for comparison and accuracy of colour matching. Though we do realise that in many cases it may not be available

We have seen the quality of the printing and found it to be of a very high standard.The flexibility is very attractive and we recommend you approach the company before investing in a huge print run elsewhere .

PRICING
Here at Gemini, we operate what we hope is a simple to understand, open and fair pricing policy.

· Our maximum printed area is 437 x 308 mm on a sheet that is 460 x 325 mm (SRA3)

Our costs revolve around this.

As an example, for 100 A3 297x420mm prints (our maximum size), we would charge £1 each, while 200 would be £135 in total, or 67.5p each, (assuming your artwork is supplied on disc).

· We are one of very few Digital Colour Printers in the UK who are Fine Art Trade Guild members, so you can be assured colour matching and quality are of the highest standards.

· In 1997 we were voted UK Digital Printer of the Year and have been finalists three years running in that prestigious competition. Furthermore, we are the longest established Digital Colour printers, (using the unique Indigo presses,) in the whole of the UK.

HOW TO SAVE MONEY…

· Send your artwork on disc if you can, that way we don't have to charge for scanning

· Order in multiples if possible, rather than just one image at a time. This helps spread the costs and results in a lower price per print

· Whilst there is no minimum order, the more you have, the more the cost per copy is spread out. On the other hand, don't order more than you really need

· ASK US FOR HELP AND FREE ADVICE BEFORE YOU START - That could prove to be the biggest money saver of all!

PROOFING
· We DO NOT charge for the first proof of your work

· If the initial proof requires colour correction, we will NOT charge for a second proof

· Further proofs will be charged at £20.00 each for authors amends

Scanning costs
Scanning costs are one-off charges, you will only have to pay them once, then the digital images are yours to reproduce from, to use on the Internet, send as e-mail etc.

· If you send us a transparency or photograph, we will have to scan it for digital reproduction. This also applies to original artwork that is flexible enough to be scanned.

· If you send us your images on disc, there are no costs additional to the standard set-up charge.

· If you have a non-flexible original, perhaps a painting that is already framed, we can arrange photography for you.

· Scanning costs are dependant on the size of the original and the size you require it printed. There are also discounts for scanning multiple images, so it's best to contact us with your specific requirements.

· We automatically archive any image we receive or scan on your behalf. That means the digital image is available to you at any time in the future.
