William Henry Squires - Artist and Sculptor

A Modern Primitive.

 

My work is primitive simplicity. Colour and form. Pattern, contrast and shadow. The imagination. These all coalesce into the experience that is the "Soul"; a medicine from the heart and mind. Almost as if music is transformed into the solid; that is pigment and paint. Symbolism and metaphor are expressed through the medium of light. Light a simple metaphor for the life force, warmth and spirit. Let there be light!

 

William Henry Squires was born in Townhill, Swansea in 1962. He has always had a love of the Arts. He is mainly self-taught other than a year in Llwyn-a-Bryn, Swansea in 1992. William had his first exhibition in May 2002, held at Waterstones, Swansea. Since then he has exhibited in the Signature gallery, Mumbles and The Environment Centre in Swansea. He has been invited to exhibit his work in The Grand Theatre Swansea in August 2005.
William's inspiration comes from his observations and experiences of life; influenced heavily by reflections of Swansea past and present.
