"Aerial imagery and the notion of pattern making are utilised to make reference to issues of society and urban environment."
Sarah Hopkins

"Her exploration of printmaking techniques is as various as the urban environment on which she focuses. Its diversity is reflected in the range of patterns and images, which simultaneously connote the issues which concern her.

The combination of techniques, e.g. collagraph and silk-screen, introduces notions of multi-layered societies who inhabit similar spaces in the city.

The innovative approach, sustained through experimental processes, instills the work with an original and dynamic thrust.
Anne Price-Owen Director of the MA Programme of Studies at Swansea Institute

"Beneath the charming images and aesthetically satisfying patterns characterising the urban environment, a sinister presence exists. Hopkins simultaneously evokes the companionship of communities together with the ugly gangs who deface the city. These concepts are advanced by superimposing one printmaking technique on another; her medium is a powerful metaphor for urban life."
Anne Price-Owen
