"Roswell Monument" by Lee Relfe

This piece is a stunning sculpture, constructed from glass-fibre, inset with green rim-lights and mounted on a plinth embedded with gravel. A scene reminiscent of H.G. Wells’ ‘War of the Worlds’. This work was a huge hit with school parties and
visitors to the Washington gallery, Cardiff, where it was first displayed in June of this year. It stands approximately four feet in height and when the inset lights are illuminated in a subdued gallery is quite amazing.
Lee’s proposal for a full scale version would certainly be thought provoking and would undoubtedly stop the traffic.

THE ALIENS HAVE LANDED -
IN SWANSEA

Artists Statement:
"Essentially my work is concerned with alternative truths
or an alternative version of history. It is set in an
imaginary reality where all the ‘crackpot’ theories about U.F.O.’s and alien intervention have finally been proven to be true. This particular sculpture is a proposal for a much larger piece, ideally to be placed as a monument on a prominent site within any major city. It is based on the idea that an event such as an alien craft crashing into the middle of a bustling city full of sceptics, would be the ultimate undeniable affirmation of the truth.”
