Geoff Hughes continues to produce new and interesting work which captivates his audience, both young and old.

ARTISTS STATEMENT:
"You're looking at the page of someone with a very simple view of art. If an image engages my imagination - then I like it. If it makes me feel better for having seen it - then I like it even more. If I could afford to buy it and take it home - then I'm a very happy person.

I tend to inhabit this simple world, and the feel of my own work must inevitably follow. My paintings display an illustrative style as they try to convey some scene, perhaps in an almost real, but off-balance world. I like the bizarre. I also like the heroic within a humorous and nostalgic context, which is filtered through the mind of a boy whose childhood was ravaged by the values and imagination of old British comics .These are the ingredients of this particular artist / illustrator.

I hope that my work will promote positive and uplifting feelings. I hope they will make you smile, and if so - then surely that is enough?"

"The Great Race"

Geoff Hughes was born in 1953 and has lived in Cardiff since the age of five.

His love of the outdoors, and off-road motorcycles, recently almost cost him his life. In 1999 he suffered serious injuries in an accident on the trails of Cymer. As is often the case following such traumatic experiences, Geoff soon after began to appreciate the important things in his life and gave up his previous employment (partly through physical necessity) to concentrate upon his love of art and illustration.

Geoff Hughes has now returned to the mountain trails on his motorcycle and continues to work in Cardiff.
He is available for commissions - and has many large original works for sale..
