The School of Art and Design, Swansea Institute is offering a new Postgraduate programme in Visual Arts Enterprise and is due to start in February 2004

The Programme is suited to a broad range of applicants with practical experience of the visual arts from recent graduates wishing to develop their art practice skills within the context of employment to those already working in the visual arts arena who are looking for continuing professional development and who wish to re-skill to meet the demands of current and future employment opportunities.

It provides learning opportunities and practical experience of a range of employment in public art, artist in residence schemes, community arts, arts in health and social care, arts in the voluntary sector, arts in regeneration schemes, arts management, administration and marketing.

Modules include topics on the role of the arts in society, their provision and organisation; a comprehensive overview of the visual arts and their working practices. They also provide a thorough grounding in business support for the management of arts projects and the opportunity to work alongside professional administrators and practising artists on current arts projects taking place in the community, public and business sectors.

The Postgraduate Diploma requires attendance for one full day of lectures, seminars and workshop sessions for 30 weeks plus Professional Practice Projects in the workplace. The Master of Arts Degree requires a further year of part time study.
