At present Enid is working with mixed media and both hand and machine embroidery, making contemporary hangings and panels for commercial and domestic situations. Whatever the subject she has chosen as her source her work is inevitably influenced by her childhood memories of her fathers’ nursery and the plants and flowers grown there. Some of her work carries copies of the diary her father kept as an apprentice gardener in1922
"There were greenhouses full of flowers, row and rows of vivid colours. Stripes of colour and texture have been featuring in my current works, which then sometimes become like landscape. This seems to be as a result of journeys through the Welsh hillsides which I love and where I live and work"
The collection that included the diary fragments were mounted on Slate tiles as a reflection of the old greenhouse floors.
"I enjoy searching through the boxes of tiles to find just the right one with glorious colours and patterns. They seem very heavy but have hung for some time in both my kitchen and Hall! I have admired the work of Clyde Oliver who drills and stitches slate and stones to create beautiful sculptures, and although I have abandoned slate at the moment, I feel sure I will return to it with my garden projects".
Photos transferred to fabric have been used in some works and figures are beginning to feature on canvases that are stitched and painted white. Further stitching, fabrics, sticks wire and beads are added
"I have been attending some life-drawing classes to hone skills and am enjoying taking these figurative images into fabric and threads. The artist Shizuko Kimura works directly with needle, thread and fabric from the model with exciting vitality. I don’t pretend such skills but am enjoying bringing the figure into my work".

In the interest of her teaching work Enid has been using the computer as a design tool and feels she could easily be seduced by the magic that can be achieved at the touch of a button.
"I am excited about the revolution of technology in textiles, but I do not want to be tied to having vastly expensive equipment to achieve effects that could be done by hand or with domestic equipment. Whilst I realize that hand work is time constrained, I would hate to lose all the skills a effects that can be gained in traditional stitch work and hope that a combination of both can be successful in this modern world"
Enid has continually developed her style and techniques and has become interested in producing work to be used in the garden, conservatory, bathroom or greenhouse. This presents a problem of the ‘materials’ that can be used in a damp environment. This is an ongoing investigation which is bringing her full circle in reflecting both her own and her fathers’ love for the outdoors.
Enid has undertaken commissioned pieces for private collectors and welcomes further enquiries.
